3 weeks ago, Nils Lundkvist suffered an ankle injury in the game against Timrå. He crashed hard into the boards and had to be helped off the ice. At the time, the team doctor was expecting him to be back in time for the play offs.

When I met Lundkvist a week later, I noticed the injury wasn’t as severe as we first thought. He was able to walk and said he was hopeful to be back within a week.

Luleå staff decided to give him an extra week to get back to full strength with the team already assured of qualification for the SHL play offs. Nisse, as he is called by his teammates, will now return to the line up for tonight’s game against Växjo Lakers, who defeated Örebro and Rangers prospect Patrik Virta in the preliminary round. The game starts at 2 PM EST.
