Bad Break: Derek Stepan Breaks Left Fibula
The pain game. Stepan out indefinitely.
Derek Stepan went down during a conditioning skate clutching his left leg. He was soon helped off the ice by teammates Mats Zuccarello and Martin St.Louis. Now reports suggest that Stepan has a broken fibula and will be out INDEFINITELY.
This is a huge blow to the Rangers and it makes them even weaker at center. The injury likely isn’t season ending but this will keep Stepan out for at least 4-6 weeks.
Last season he missed all of training camp with a contract dispute and played catch up all year. This could have the same devastating impact.

Chris Kelly missed 22 games with a fractured fibula in 2013. If Stepan misses 18-ish games, it’s not the end of the world but it’s close.
