Hartford Wolf Pack advance; will face Providence Bruins next
The Hartford Wolf Pack have swept their first-round matchup against the Springfield Thunderbirds after a 7-1 blowout victory on Friday.
It was a big night for the New York Rangers AHL affiliate, who were led by veteran forward Tanner Fritz. The 31 year-old opened the scoring and then added two more assists to increase the Pack lead to take Game 2 of the best-of-three series.
Fritz also leads all AHL playoff scorers with 6 points (1 goal, 5 assists) to date.
Hartford Wolf Pack advance
The Pack will now have their hands full as they face the Providence Bruins in round-two. This is a best-of-five round against the Atlantic Division’s top team with the first two games on the road.
“It’s definitely tough playing on the road,” Tim Gettinger said. “We just got to keep it simple. Work hard, get pucks in, play a simple game and build from there.”
