Jesper Fast on Free Agency and Rangers, “I hope to continue playing here.”
Rangers forward and alternate captain, Jesper Fast told Swedish news outlet Sverige, “I enjoy living in New York and hope to continue playing here.“ The 28 year old winger with 29 points in 69 games is a David Quinn favorite. However, with the uncertainty of the season and the upcoming NHL salary cap, sheer desire to stay in NY will not be enough.
Fast on Free Agency and NY RANGERS
Although the hard working versatile winger would love to remain a Ranger he is well aware of the business end of it all. “At the same time, there is a salary cap that everyone has to work with,” Fast said. “I want a good deal for myself and the Rangers obviously want a deal that is fair to them. I hope we come to an agreement. If not, I will test the market.”
Jesper Fast continued, “I have worked hard to get here and if we cannot come to an agreement on a new contract, I am not worried getting a contract elsewhere. I have had a good season.” While the Rangers would surely love to keep him, it will be difficult to commit on a multi year contract, at a significant increase from his current salary of $1.85M AAV.
