Mika Zibanejad’s Ask vs. NYR Offer Released

According to Elliotte Friedman, Mika Zibanejad is looking for a deal that will pay him $5.35 million per year. The New York Rangers are offering $4.1 million per year. While this may seem like quite the distance in price, it should not be to difficult for the 2 sides to avoid arbitration on July 25th and reach a deal.

On the one hand when you look at some of the centers that are making $5 million per year, Mika is drastically superior to some of them (Dubinsky, Zajac and arguably Frans Nielsen). On the inverse there are several that he is not (Tavarres). Should Mika be willing to come down to $5 mill per, then the team would have to give that to him. Same can be said if he comes down to $5.1 mill. It will all come down to term. More years, higher price.
