Mika’s Goal in OT Gives Rangers 3-2 Win

What. A. Game. While the New York Rangers were on the money for all 60 minutes of Game 4, they did start out a little soft in Game 5. They finally picked up momentum in the third period and that overtime, just wow.

Some Blueshirts Still Missing in Action

I’m not sure what it is about Derek Stepan, but he seems to have lost all his confidence this series. He’s not handling the puck like he usually does, or even taking shots on goal.

Stars of the Show

Mika Zibanejad, who had his best game of the series on Tuesday, proved he has what it takes once again. His intuition and pass to Fast put the Rangers on even playing field with a shorthanded goal in the first period.

As has been the case in the last four games, Rick Nash was a force to be reckoned with. He’s been arguably the best forward on the ice this series, driving his body to the net and handling the puck with ease. Tonight, his hard work led to Skjei’s goal, which was off Nash’s rebound.

Zuccarello has been all over the ice, and while he hasn’t scored, his work doesn’t go unnoticed. The same goes for Buchnevich, holy wow, what great hands he has. His presence has arguably led to a better performance by both Zibanejad and Kreider, though I’d still like to see more of Kreider. He’s proven he’s a big body, but if he’s not driving to the net, and if he’s not using his force, then he’s not benefiting the team the best way he can.

And who could forget Lundqvist? Yes, he probably should’ve made the save on the wraparound, but that has to be one of the only moments he’s been off this series. He knew it, too, as you could see the aggravation on his face and in his stance. He’s been right on the puck, even in Game 2’s 4-3 OT loss, where he faced 58 shots. Need proof? Here he is bailing out the team once again:

Mika’s Exciting Overtime Goal Seals Win

I don’t think there was a single fan who wasn’t nervous going into overtime. While this game wasn’t do-or-die for the Blueshirts, it would’ve led to a do-or-die situation come Saturday, and nobody wants that.

While Montreal seemed to be running out of steam, the Rangers were anything but. They were fired up, flying down the ice and had it not been for a few unlucky bounces, they would’ve scored the winning goal earlier on. However, Kreider’s fantastic feed to Zibanejad for the OT winner was simply gold.

Game 6 is Saturday at 8 PM at MSG. Let’s end this series, and as usual, I’ll be here with the recap following the game.

LETS GO RANGERS!!
