Rangers prospects Adam Sykora and Bryce McConnell-Barker to join Wolf Pack
Several New York Rangers prospects are being added to the Hartford Wolf Pack roster down the AHL stretch as they chase a playoff berth.
The Pack currently sit just on the outside in seventh place, one point behind the sixth place Bridgeport Islanders, whom they play tonight.
According to multiple reports and the AHL’s Transaction page, Adam Sykora, Bryce McConnell-Barker, and Adam Edstrom will join the team.
Adam Sykora and others joining the Wolf Pack
Adam Sykora was selected by New York with their first pick of the 2022 draft in the second-round. The 18 year-old had 8 goals and 21 points in 38 regular-season games this season for Nitra. He added 4 points in 8 playoff games before Nitra was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
“I fly there on Tuesday afternoon,” Sykora told TVNOVINY over the weekend. “I know they’re fighting for a playoff spot, so it’s definitely going to be tough. However, I take it as a new experience and an opportunity which I’m thankful for.”
Sykora signed his entry-level contract prior to the start of the season before being cut from training camp.
“I came out after [the scrimmage] and they told me ‘you’re going to sign’,” Sykora said. “I was real excited and happy for it. Great day for me.”
Last week, the Rangers signed another 2022 pick in center Bryce-McConnell Barker.
The 18 year-old was taken in the third-round and had a strong season as captain of the OHL’s Soo Greyhounds. He led the team in scoring with 77 points (30 goals, 47 assists) through 68 games but it wasn’t enough to help the Greyhounds make the playoffs.
Per the AHL’s transaction page, he’s on an Amateur Tryout (ATO).
Finally, the Pack will add huge and hard hitting forward Adam Edstrom to the mix as well.
Edstrom, tips the scales at 6-8′ and 225 pounds. Only prospect Matthew Rempe is bigger at 6-9′ and 240 pounds in the Rangers system. He was selected in the 6th round of the 2019 NHL Draft and plays for Rögle BK in the SHL where they just wrapped up their season.
In 42 games, the 22 year-old recorded 9 goals and 19 points. He added another 3 points in 9 playoff matches.
The Rangers also added prospect Brett Berard to the Wolf Pack roster last week.
