Ranking the 3 best alternate New York Rangers jerseys
The New York Rangers unveiled a new third jersey for the 2023-24 campaign, and it’s a beauty. For the first-time in a long time, the Rangers Shield will be front and center over a dark blue jersey loaded with stripes at the elbow.
Over the years, the Rangers jersey has seen quite a few variations and looks since the team was founded in 1926. However, the mainstay has always been the team name stitched diagonally on across the chest.
Putting aside the standard classic, which alternate/third jersey are the best of all-time? Of course that’s going to be a matter of opinion, but here are three for your consideration.

Best of the New York Rangers alternate jerseys
#3 – Heritage Jersey
Starting at number 3, we offer up the Rangers Heritage jersey. These beauties were first introduced during the 2010-11 season and featured “New York” sewn diagonally across the chest in a deep red with off-white trim. It was also a beautiful dark blue that had Established 1926 on the collar and all the retired players’ jersey numbers stitched on the inside rear bottom.
#2 – Lady Liberty
The Rangers sent fans into a frenzy with the release of the Lady Liberty alternate jersey during the 1996-97 campaign.
It was an instant hit as the iconic Statue of Liberty, which was already on Mike Richter’s goalie mask, made its debut. The team added grey to the shading, which gave it a subtle but effective touch. Meanwhile, the New York Rangers shield on the shoulders were given a futuristic look as well.
#1 – 2012 Winter Classic
The Rangers have a rich history, and the first time they played outdoors in the 2012 Winter Classic at Citizens Bank Park, they hit a home run.
An antique white jersey that displayed the original Rangers shield from 1926 through 1947, before giving way to the shield we all know today in 1948, was front and center. It was such a vintage look that screamed Original Six for many fans. Adding to their aura, the Rangers only wore them once.
So which of these is your favorite, or do you have another?
