Well, that was fun. J.T. Miller’s return to Madison Square Garden to play for the home team was a smashing success, a 4-2 New York Rangers victory against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Rack up another two points (assists) and five hits for Miller over 18:23 TOI, who has four points (two goals, two assists) and eight hits in his first two games since the big trade with the Vancouver Canucks on Friday night.

He and his new teammates will catch their breath with a day off Monday. Miller is reportedly staying in the home of his childhood buddy Vincent Trocheck, which certainly beats waking up in a hotel.

You know who else probably slept pretty well Sunday night? Mika Zibanejad, that’s who. Playing on a line with Miller and Artemi Panarin has opened up the game for a rejuvenated Zibanjead, who had the game-tying goal and two assists in the win Sunday.

And Jonathan Quick? Now, he probably sleeps well every night. He’s as calm an athlete as you’ll find. But finally getting his 400th win Sunday after sitting 399 for a month? Yeah, that earned his a good night of rest for sure.

It wasn’t a great start for the Rangers on Sunday, but a terrific finish, for sure. You can see already the good Miller brings to this lineup. And the fact that pretty much everyone in the Eastern Conference playoff race outside of the Rangers and Detroit Red Wings lost Sunday, is another reason to feel good heading into a rematch with the Boston Bruins at MSG on Wednesday, after a 6-3 loss at TD Garden on Saturday.
