After a day off and a short flight to Buffalo, the New York Rangers are back in action for their fourth game in six days when they visit the Sabres on Wednesday at KeyBank Center.
The Rangers are trying to snap a two-game skid, after that inexcusable 2-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday. The Sabres are on a seven-game skid (0-4-3) of their own, so it’s not exactly a match of NHL heavyweights in Buffalo on Wednesday.

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, speaking after the NHL Board of Governors meeting in Florida, spoke optimistically about hammering out a new CBA with the players union “quickly and peacefully.” The current deal doesn’t expire until September 2026, but Bettman says informal discussions are taking place and official negotiations are schedule to begin as early as February.
Ottawa Senators owner Michael Andlauer took a swipe at the Rangers for “soft tampering” with captain Brady Tkachuk amid recent trade rumors. The Blueshirts quickly refuted those claims.
