New York Rangers NCAA prospect report: World Juniors gold medalists return to Boston College lineup
The NCAA men’s hockey season continued this past weekend, and seven New York Rangers prospects were in action for their respective collegiate teams.
Teammates Gabe Perreault and Drew Fortescue returned to Boston College after helping the United States win gold at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship. It was the first time the U.S. won the tournament in consecutive years, and the Rangers prospects played key roles imn each of the gold-medal wins. Perreault had 10 points (three goals, seven assists) this year and Fortescue again was a shutdown defender on the top defense pair.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, they overlooked Merrimack College, dropping the first game of the weekend series at home 5-2 on Friday, allowing five unanswered goals after jumping out to a 2-0 lead. Fortescue was held out of the lineup in that game and Perreault led Boston College with five shots on goal, though had his four-game point streak end.
Fortescue returned to the lineup on Saturday, and had a secondary assist on the game-winning goal as Boston College earned a 4-1 victory. The defenseman had two shots on goal and a plus-1 rating in his return.
Perreault picked up the primary assist on BC’s fourth goal and his 17 assists and 24 points lead Boston College. He finished the game with one assist and had three shots on goal, one blocked shot and a plus-1 rating.
Boston College improved to 13-4-1 with the win. BC next plays Tuesday night against Harvard at Conte Forum.

Rangers draft pick Noah Laba has 2 points but Colorado College loses two more games

2021 fourth-round pick Brody Lamb was held scoreless with one shot on goal and one blocked shot as the Minnesota Golden Gophers dropped a 5-1 Big Ten matchup against Ohio State on Friday. Lamb had one shot on goal and a minor penalty for slashing in a 6-1 win Saturday in the rematch. The junior forward has 13 goals and seven assists for 20 points in 23 games this season. Minnesota has a record of 18-4-2 overall and will host Notre Dame next weekend.
Despite two assists from Noah Laba, the Colorado College Tigers fell to the Omaha Mavericks by a score of 5-2 on Friday night. Laba was credited with a primary assist on the Tigers first tally, and a secondary assist on the their second goal.
The junior center was credited with four shots on goal, one blocked shot, and a face-off record of 10-5.
Colorado College lost their fifth straight game Saturday, 3-1 to Omaha. Laba was scoreless with four shots on goal, and was 10-4 on face-offs. Despite missing five games due to injury, Laba is tied for the team lead in points with 14. Colorado College fell to 10-9-1 overall, and will look to turn things around in their upcoming home series against Minnesota Duluth.
North Dakota split their weekend series against Arizona State at Mullett Arena in Tempe, Arizona. Defenseman EJ Emery had two shots on goal in a 4-1 loss Friday. Emery had one blocked shot Saturday during a 4-3 victory and was called for holding and slashing minor penalties.
The Fighting Hawks have a record of 12-8-1 and will take on Ty Henricks and the Western Michigan Broncos in their next series.
Cornell skated to a 1-1 tie against Sacred Heart on Friday. Defenseman Hank Kempf had three shots on goal and a minus-1 rating. Kempf was minus-2 with no shots in a 4-2 loss on Saturday. Cornell has a record of 6-5-4 and will be on the road against Princeton and Quinnipiac University this weekend.
In other ECAC action, Zakary Karpa captained Harvard to a 3-1 victory over Brown on Friday. The senior center impressed at the face-off dot, winning 17 of 20 draws (85 percent). Karpa had one assist with two shots on goal. He did not record any shots during a 3-1 win over Yale on Saturday, and was 9-7 on face-offs with a plus-1 rating. The Crimson improved to 5-7-2 and will play Boston College on Tuesday night.
For the first time since Oct. 18, 2024, the Northern Michigan Wildcats Men’s Ice Hockey team won a game, upsetting Minnesota State by a score of 3-2. Freshman defenseman Rasmus Larsson was credited with four blocked shots. Larsson had two shots on goal and three blocked shots during a 6-1 loss on Saturday, and was charged with minor penalties for tripping and hooking. The Wildcats are 2-19-1 overall and will face Bemidji State in their next series.
