New York Rangers NCAA prospects report: Gabe Perreault extends point streak, EJ Emery suspended

NCAA play continued over the weekend with nine New York Rangers prospects in action.
2023 first-round pick Gabe Perreault recorded his 12th goal of the season for the Boston College Eagles on Friday night. With his team on the power play, and trailing UMass 1-0, the sophomore forward took a pass from Teddy Stiga, and fired the puck into a wide open cage to tie the game. Perreault showcased his elite hands and vision by scoring from below the circle and finding the back of the net.
With Boston College trailing 3-1 in the final minute of regulation, and their goalie pulled for an extra attacker, Perreault assisted on Ryan Leonard’s goal to bring the score to 3-2. The Eagles were unable to complete the comeback against UMass however. Perreault finished the game with a goal and assist and six shots on goal. He had a minus-1 rating, won one face-off, and took a minor penalty for hooking. Teammate Drew Fortescue was also minus-1 with no shots on goal and one blocked shot in the loss.
Saturday, Boston College bounced back by jumping out to a 3-0 lead before completing a 4-1 win over the Minutemen in Hockey East play. Perreault extended his point streak to six games when he assisted on Andre Gasseau’s second-period goal, which was the eventual game winner. Perreault earned the primary assist for his 27th assist and 39th point this season.
Perreault leads BC in assists, is tied for the team lead in points with Leonard and is second in goals.
He had four shots on goal in the win Saturday, and was plus-2; Fortescue had two shots on goal, one blocked shot, and an even rating.
When the USCHO Men’s Division I Poll came out Monday, Boston College dropped out of the top spot due to the weekend split. They remain at the top of the Men’s Division I PairWise Rankings however with a 22-6-1 overall record. BC takes on Vermont this weekend.

2024 first-round pick EJ Emery has just one assist in 29 games played for North Dakota but it wasn;t scoring woes that caught up to him this past weekend. The freshman defenseman had one shot on goal, one blocked shot, and was minus-1 Friday when the Fighting Hawks lost 4-0 to Denver. North Dakota won 3-1 on Saturday to earn a split. Emery had one shot on goal and two blocked shots. The big takeaway from the night came at the end of the game when Emery received a two minute minor for roughing, and game misconduct. He was also called for slashing and cross-checking earlier in the game.
On Monday, the NCHC announced Emery would be suspended one game for his actions.
North Dakota is currently a bubble team with an overall record of 15-12-2. They are 17th in the USCHO Poll and just outside the tournament field at number 18 in PairWise ranking. The next games are at home against Minnesota Duluth.
After a strong start to the season, Brody Lamb has gone 11 games without a goal for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, who lost in overtime to Michigan by a score of 3-2 on Friday night. Lamb needs to shoot the puck consistently if he is going to score goals. He did not record a shot on goal Friday, and had a minus-1 rating to go with a minor penalty for slashing.
Lamb has been all over the lineup this season, and is capable of playing both wings as well as center. On Saturday, Minnesota skated to a 2-2 tie, losing in a shootout. Lamb did not record any stats. The Gophers are fifth in the USCHO Poll and third in PairWise ranking with an overall record of 21-7-4. The team continue Big Ten play with their final series at home against Ohio State.
The Western Michigan Broncos remained on top of the NCHC standings following a weekend sweep over Nebraska-Omaha. Freshman Ty Henricks had one shot on goal and a plus-1 rating Friday in a 5-4 victory.
Henricks picked up his fifth assist of the season, a primary assist on Western Michigan’s fourth goal of the game Saturday, when they jumped out to a 4-0 lead on their way to a 6-1 win. Henricks had one shot on goal along with the assist, and finished with a plus-2 rating for the game.
Though his stat line of three goals and five assists for eight points in 28 games played may seem modest, Henricks has been deployed in a depth role as the fourth line left wing for the Broncos, who are third in the USCHO Poll and fifth in PairWise rankings with a 22-5-1 overall record. Western Michigan is on the road against Arizona State this weekend.
Elsewhere in the NCHC, Noah Laba and the Colorado College Tigers defeated Miami (OH) 6-1 on Friday. Laba did not record a shot on goal and won four of seven face-offs before leaving the game in the second period. The junior center was out of the lineup Saturday when Colorado College won 5-4 to improve to 16-13-1 overall. They are 20th in the USCHO Poll, but need to win the NCHC tournament since they are tied for 32nd in PairWise ranking. Colorado College faces St. Cloud State this weekend.
Cornell senior defenseman Hank Kempf is once again being recognized for his charitable contributions off the ice as he has been named a finalist for the Hockey Humanitarian Award presented annually to a student-athlete who makes significant contributions to their team and the broader community through leadership in volunteerism.
On the ice, Kempf was plus-2 for Cornell on Friday when the Big Red defeated Brown 6-1. Kempf had one shot on goal, one blocked shot, and was minus-1 Saturday in a 5-3 win over Yale. Cornell improved to 11-8-6 overall, though the team may need to win the ECAC tournament for the second straight year in order to qualify for the NCAA Frozen Four. Cornell continues ECAC regular-season play against Clarkson University and St. Lawrence University this weekend.
Harvard will also need to win the ECAC tournament in order to qualify for the NCAA Frozen Four. Senior captain Zakary Karpa had an assist for the Crimson when they defeated the St. Lawrence Saints 6-2 on Friday. Karpa was credited with a secondary assist on Harvard’s third goal which proved to be the game winner. Karpa now has five assists on the season. He recorded one shot on goal and won 11 of 18 face-offs and was assessed a roughing minor in the second period.
Clarkson shut out Harvard on Saturday, winning 6-0 in ECAC play. Karpa did not have a shot on goal and was minus-1. He won 10 of 14 face-offs. Harvard is 41st in PairWise ranking with a 9-14-2 record and will host Union College on Friday before Senior Night on Saturday against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Northeastern defenseman Jackson Dorrington had one shot on goal and five blocked shots Friday when the Huskies shut out UMass Lowell in Hockey East play. Dorrington was a minus-2 Saturday with one shot on goal and four blocked shots. Northeastern dropped to 10-15-3 overall. They continue Hockey East play this weekend against Boston University.
