The New York Rangers will play six preseason games ahead of the 2024-25 regular season, beginning with a road game at the Boston Bruins on Sept. 22. Their first home preseason game is two nights later against the New York Islanders on Sept. 24.

All told, the Rangers will play three opponents twice each, once at Madison Square Garden and once on the road.
As has been the case in recent years, the Rangers will play preseason games against the Bruins, Islanders and New Jersey Devils.
There’s much work to be done for the Rangers before then. Though they already signed Kaapo Kakko to a one-year contract ahead of his restricted free agency and cleared $3.6 million in salary cap space when Barclay Goodrow was claimed off waivers by the San Jose Sharks, the Blueshirts still must add a top-six right wing, another defenseman and perhaps a veteran fourth-line center.
The Bruins, Islanders and Devils all have their work cut out for them, as well, though the Devils have been busy already. New Jersey hired Sheldon Keefe as its new coach and acquired goalie Jacob Markstrom in a trade with the Calgary Flames.
