NY Rangers odd stats and facts shows importance of Mika Zibanejad
The NY Rangers have played in 17 games so far this season (8-6-3) and that’s enough of a sample size to check out some odd stats and facts.
So what day of the week do the Blueshirts have their most wins? What’s their record when certain players register a point? How are they doing in back-to-backs?
Let’s dive into these numbers.
NY Rangers: As goes Mika Zibanejad…
Mika Zibanejad has registered a point in 12 of the New York Rangers 17 games this season. When he does pick up at least a point the team is 8-2-1 and when it’s 2 or more points they’re a perfect 5-0-0.
Here’s a little further breakdown:
- NYR are 5-0-1 when Mika scores a goal
- NYR are 6-2-0 when Mika gets an assist
Now here’s the real kicker and why Mika Zibanejad is the Blueshirts most important scorer. In the 5 games he failed to register a point the Rangers are 0-4-1.
Zibanejad, 29, has 9 goals and 19 points so far in 2022-23.
NY Rangers: Record when…
Artemi Panarin is the team’s leading scorer with 5 goals and 22 points in 17 games this season. When the 31 year-old registers a point the team is 7-3-2 and when he fails to they are 1-3-1. That one victory was a 1-0 OT win over the Philadelphia Flyers with Chris Kreider scoring in the extra session.
Speaking of Kreider, when he scores a goal the team is 5-1-0. The 31 year-old power forward has 7 goals and 14 points in 17 games this season.
Alexis Lafrenière has scored 7 points in 17 games this season. When the 20 year-old first overall pick from 2020 picks up a point the Rangers are unbeaten at 5-0-0.
On defense, Adam Fox picking up a point usually means a win for the Blueshirts. The 24 year-old has 19 points on the season and the team’s record is 6-3-3 when he scores.
NY Rangers: Days of Week
So what day do the Rangers have the most wins in? Are there any days of the week where they’ve yet to register a win? Let’s take a look:
- Monday: 1-0-0
- Tuesday: 2-1-1
- Wednesday: 0-1-0
- Thursday: 2-1-1
- Friday: 0-1-0
- Saturday: 1-1-0
- Sunday: 2-1-1
Looks like the Blueshirts need some more games on Monday. Their next game on that day will be November 28 versus the New Jersey Devils.
“The underlying numbers objectively indicate that we’re playing better than our [8-6-3] record,” Kreider said. “We talked a lot before the year about focusing on the process and not the results, but at the same time, we know we need to get results.
