Larry Brooks has broken the latest update on injured Mats Zuccarello. You can read his entire piece by clicking the quote below.

[su_quote cite=”NY POST” url=”https://nypost.com/2015/04/30/rangers-zuccarello-out-for-round-2-at-least-sources/”]Zuccarello, the club’s first-line right wing, is suspected to have sustained a concussion when he was struck on the left side of the head by Ryan McDonagh’s drive at 15:30 of the first period of Game 5 against the Penguins. After the play, he skated slowly to the Rangers’ bench before heading to the locker room. It is unknown whether the 27-year-old Norwegian, who was hospitalized for at least one night over the weekend, suffered additional damage.[/su_quote]

So now the Rangers will begin life without one of their top 6 forwards, can they survive? As far as I’m concerned that is a resounding YES for at least round 2. However, a prolonged absence becomes worrisome.

We believe that James Sheppard can be a key player in this series and matches up well against the bigger Caps forwards. In addition, the Rangers have enough depth to compensate for Zuccarello this round which is evident in their record when he scores and when he doesn’t.

For this series however, we highlighted that the Rangers need Chris Kreider to elevate his game. You can read that in full detail here.
