Traverse City Tournament

The New York Rangers will once again participate in the 2017 Traverse City Tournament.  The tournament features prospects from the eight participating teams as they compete against fellow prospects. The tournament runs from September 8 to the 12th. Ken Gernander headed the bench in the past for New York, however, Keith McCambridge will take over that role. This is the second outing for the new Wolf Pack head coach in the tournament. Game times and opponents can be found here.

Training Camps and Preseason

Hartford’s training camp will open later in the month, shortly after the Rangers start making cuts. Actual dates will be released soon.

The first preseason game for the Blueshirts is on September 18th against the Islanders.  There are six outings in September to focus on our prospects. Hartford’s first preseason outing is on September 28th after the Rangers complete all of their warm-up games. It will be interesting to see which prospects will make the big club on opening night.

Chris Drury Interview

Last night Chris Drury was interviewed by Jeff Jacobs of the Hartford Courant. He looks forward to the challenge of fixing a struggling American Hockey League club. Drury mentioned that he wants to balance wins and losses, along with allowing the club to play in meaningful games. In addition, Keith McCambridge has said he wants a hard working club in games and practices. Between the two, Hartford players are expected to perform to their fullest potential.

One interesting aspect of the article is that Hartford will be playing similar to Alain Vigneault’s system for New York. The system was not exact in the past, and it will mimic AV’s as close as possible. Players getting the call up to the big club would at least be comfortable and have the system figured out.

Check Out The Pack

Single game tickets go on sale for the club on Wednesday, September 6th at noon. Ticket prices remains the same, ranging from $20 to $45. Kids tickets are $10. If you are interested in checking out the Wolf Pack, come on up! The best time to do so is when there are promotions. The popular $2 beer and $1 hot dog nights return for every Friday outing. In addition, there are unique promotions throughout the season, ranging from Star Wars Night to Olympics Night. The Pack will wear two specialty jerseys, first on Saturday, February 3rd for Olympic Kickoff Night, and on March 3rd for Military Appreciation Day.  You can check out the entire promotional schedule here.

XL Center Ice System Project

The cement has fully dried and the floor is complete. Now the installation of the new boards is underway. We have a glimpse of the progress here. The test ice and official ice will be up in September.
