Rangers closing in on SHL forward Michael Lindqvist

Färjestad BK

Per Swedish website, Kvallposten, we are hearing that the New York Rangers and SHL free agent forward Michael Lindqvist are closing in a deal. Lindqvist is 23 and played last season in the SHL, which is Sweden’s top hockey league.

This past season, Lindqvist had 34 points in 33 games, scoring 20 goals and adding 14 assists. When a team is going through the rebuilding process, it doesn’t hurt to have more options. Lindqvist would give them yet another young forward with high potential who could be a real diamond in the rough.

Our own Noah Weiss predicted the signing of Lindqvist just a few months ago, you can read about that here.

While the deal has not been officially announced yet, it is expected to be announced shortly. Stick with us on Forever Blueshirts as we learn more.
