Rangers Hire New Scout

The Rangers announced moments ago that they have hired former Seattle Thunderbirds head coach Steve Konowalchuk as an amateur scout.

Konowalchuk coached Rangers prospect Ryan Gropp in Seattle before leaving the club to join the Anaheim Ducks as an assistant coach. The Rangers have not had a lot of success drafting from the WHL, with the most notable former prospects to come from the league has been Brandon Dubinsky, Dylan McIlrath, and current up-and-comer Ty Ronning. Hopefully, Konowalchuk’s experience within the WHL as a coach will translate to his scouting career and bring the Rangers some high-end talent.
