Rangers Lose Howden To Injury

Moments ago, the Rangers announced that forward Brett Howden suffered a sprained MCL on Tuesday night that will keep him out of the lineup until the end of February.

Howden got off to a great start to his rookie campaign but has hit the proverbial “rookie wall” over the last handful of weeks. The 20-year-old center has notched 15 points this season (4G, 11A) but just two of them have come since the beginning of December. Howden’s injury means the Rangers will have to call up a center from the Wolf Pack, and one would have to think that Lias Andersson is the player that will be heading back to the Big Apple. Andersson has four points (G, 3A) with the Rangers this season and 18 points (6G, 12A) with Hartford in 27 games, and has four points (G, 3A) in his last seven appearances for the Wolf Pack.
