Rangers Swap Goaltenders With Hartford

The Rangers announced earlier today that they have sent backup goaltender Alexandar Georgiev down to Hartford. In addition, the team has recalled Marek Mazanec to the Blueshirts.

This move shouldn’t come as a shock as Georgiev has not seen any game action since the Rangers loss to the Carolina Hurricanes around two weeks ago. The Rangers won’t play again until Sunday against the Calgary Flames, and with the long layoff, Henrik Lundqvist should be the projected starter in that one.

As for Mazanec, he has not had a good start for Hartford, posting a 2-2 record and a 3.53 GAA and a .859 SV%. Don’t expect to be Mazanec on the roster long term, as this move is likely to get Georgiev playing time before the Rangers next game.
