Rapid Reaction: Grabner traded to NJ for 2nd rd pick and a prospect
The Rangers have traded Michael Grabner to the NJ Devils.
Hearing it will be a 2nd round pick and Igor Rykov. Stay tuned. https://t.co/z0fw51LVti

As I had been predicting for a while, Grabner would likely only garner a 2nd round pick due the fact he is a rental and not considered a game changer. He gives NJ excellent depth and speed as they try to make it out of the East in the playoffs.
Igor Rykov is an added bonus. The 6’2″, 216lbs hulking defenseman from the KHL is only 20 years old. He plays a solid 2-way game and has risen up the NJ prospect rankings. This is an excellent deal.
#NYR would’ve kept very close tabs on Igor Rykov this season, as he plays for SKA St. Petersburg, the same team as G Igor Shestyorkin – the heir apparent to King Henrik’s throne.

What part of the fact that Michael Grabner is a bottom 6 forward who is a rental are most #NYR fans missing? A 2nd rounder AND a prospect is an absolute haul! That pick will be a mid level pick also. Somewhere btwn 40-50
