Report: Rangers offered Dallas 7 and 21 for 3rd overall and addressing the Lindy Ruff hiring rumors

Back on June 10th, Elliotte Friedman wrote that the Rangers had contacted Lindy Ruff to join the staff. The move as he wrote, “was with the idea of making the group stronger, not forcing Vigneault to look over his shoulder.”

What We Know

At the time, Scott Arneil interviewed for both jobs in Florida and Buffalo. He landed neither of them, so as of right now he is still an assistant. That doesn’t mean the Rangers are happy with everyone on the staff or that adding a coach of Lindy’s reputation wouldn’t be a big benefit.

Rumors are now surfacing that Ruff, who is also a favorite of Chris Drury has been added to the team in some capacity. We can’t confirm it with any of our sources but it isn’t out of the realm of possibility. The discussions continued past Friedman’s report and it may have led to his addition. If said rumor is true the announcement could be made tomorrow or after the draft.

If we can get any further information or clarification we will update you as soon as possible.
