Rumor: Sharks circling around Rangers Zuccarello

Zuccarello

Mats Zuccarello is becoming a hotter commodity with each point he notches during this scoring streak. Everyone’s favorite Norwegian has scored 20 points in his last 14 games and raising interest around the league.

Sharks Circling

The San Jose Sharks are looking for a winger to play with Joe Thornton down the stretch and into the playoffs. While the rumor mill has them looking to add Ottawa’s soon to be UFA Ryan Dzingel, the asking price might be something they can’t afford.

Ottawa is definitely in a pickle with having to re-sign other UFAs Mark Stone and Matt Duchene to contracts that they may consider moving the 26 year old forward. Dzingel has 41 points in 53 games and could command a 1st round pick which SJ does not have until 2021.

That is why the Sharks may be shifting focus to Mats Zuccarello. Head coach, Peter DeBoer is very familiar with Mats having coached against him while with the NJ Devils. Zuccarello could bring that secondary scoring and help open the ice more for Joe Thornton’s playmaking skills.

The Blueshirts have been scouting the Sharks a lot lately adding fuel to this rumor as well. Of course, there is no first round pick to get here but the Sharks have plenty of young talent and prospects to deal with.

YOne player that may be of interest is NY born winger, Kevin Lebanc. The 23 year old has 36 points in 56 games and could be a nice player for the Rangers in the rebuild. Packaged with a 2nd round pick, there could be a deal between these two teams in the future.
