Cam Talbot notched his third win of the season as well as his third shutout. He turned aside 18 harmless Hurricane shots in what will likely be the easiest shutout of his NHL career. “I didn’t really have to do a whole lot tonight,” Talbot told reporters. “The guys in front of me did an unbelievable job.”

RANGERS 1 vs. HURRICANES 0

Anton Khudobin kicked away 30 of the Rangers 31 shots last night and came away the loser. In what was an incredible display of goaltending, only Captain, Ryan McDonagh’s shot eluded him.

The Rangers battled a hot goaltending duo of Cam Ward and Khudobin the only way you can – fire lots of rubber at them. NY outshot Carolina in the home and home series 65 to 38.

McDonagh told ESPN, “We’ll take the two wins, kind of in different fashions. We did a good job of containing them and eliminating their opportunities.” Yes, a quick glance at Carolina’s shot selection shows nothing from in close on Talbot.

At the end of the home and home series the Rangers did what they needed to. NY picked up a valuable 4 points against the 8th place Canes and can now start a legit climb in the standings.

The Rangers will host the 4th place Caps on Tuesday.
