From 1917 to 1995, there was only one NHL player to wear 00 on the back of his jersey during games: John Davidson. In fact the only other NHL’er to ever wear the double-zeroes was Martin Biron in the 1995-96 season, before the league banned wearing 0 or 00 in 1998.
