Tanner Glass: Future NYR Fan Favorite

It never ceases to amaze me the level of absurdity out in the public domain. Yesterday, one signing sent several NYR “experts” off the deep end, Tanner Glass.

In essence, Glass replaces Derek Dorsett on the Rangers 4th line for about 200K less AAV on the CAP. He is bigger and stronger as well. At 6’1″ and 210 lbs, Glass will be policing the opposition on a nightly basis.

His toughness on the 4th line will be appreciated on those regular season nights in Philadelphia, Long Island and New Jersey. Of course, fighting is stupid and useless and doesn’t win hockey games. That is until Chris Neil takes a head shot at Rick Nash or Marty St. Louis – then all of a sudden we are crying for someone to take up arms.

We can also ignore the fact that the head coach we praised for his roster moves is very happy to have him. “Tanner is a hard nosed fourth line player that can kill penalties. Smart player and will help us in that role.” Well what do you know Mr. Vigneault? You’re just an NHL head coach.

So let the pundits and experts cry and pour over all their fancy stats. I’ll just leave you with this.
